We have adopted this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) to tell you how we collect, store, and use the information you provide to us in connection with the eBenefits Platform either through the eBenefits Platform application accessible via a mobile device or through the eBenefits Platform’s website. We also have other more general privacy policies that may apply to you as a MetLife insured, consumer or customer. BY DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, USING, REGISTERING OR OTHERWISE ACCESSING THE EBENEFITS PLATFORM APPLICATION OR ITS WEBSITE, YOU AGREE TO THIS POLICY AND GIVE AN EXPLICIT AND INFORMED AUTHORIZATION TO DELAM, ITS AFFILIATES AND AGENTS TO SHARE AMONG THEM AND PROCESS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE POLICY, ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION,INCLUDING SENSITIVE INFORMATION SUCH AS HEALTH INFORMATION,ABOUT YOU, YOUR DEPENDENTS OR BENEFICIARIES THAT YOU MAY UPLOAD TO OR OTHERWISE MAY BE INCLUDED IN THE EBENEFITS PLATFORM.

What personal information does the Policy cover?

This Policy only applies to personal information collected in connection with downloading, registering in, or using the eBenefits Platform, and does not apply to information collected by DelAm or MetLife through any other means. This Policy covers how we collect, use, and share personal information in connection with the eBenefits Platform.

What types of personal information do we collect through the eBenefits Platform?

Personal information is information that identifies you and can be used to contact you directly. Situations when you make personal information available to DelAm include but are not limited to: (i) registration in the eBenefits Platform; (ii) applying for or obtaining a DelAm service; (iii) asking to receive information about our products or services; (iii) submitting claims, questions or requests to DelAm or your dedicated Regional Service Center, (iv) requesting technical support; and (vi) otherwise using the eBenefits Platform where personal information is required.

The types of personal information may vary depending on the activity you are engaged in. The personal information DelAm may collect and process through the eBenefits Platform includes, but is not limited to name, screen name, IP address, account or policy number, social security number, ID number, telephone number, e-mail address, birthdate, sex, address, health status, medical history, medical conditions, and bank account information.

Location information is collected only with your permission through use of geolocation services. Should you choose not to permit access to your location information, not all eBenefits Platform features will be available to you.

How do we use and disclose your personal information? International transfer of personal information

For example, we use and may disclose your personal information or personal information of your dependents or beneficiaries to: manage, service and provide your insurance benefits; process, administer, evaluate and adjudicate claims; utilization review; financial audit; answer your questions and requests; authenticate your identity; process your registration in the eBenefits Platform and administer your account information; analyze use of the eBenefits Platform; provide customer and technical support; further develop the eBenefits Platform and other products and services; for other everyday business purposes.

Your authorization includes any transfer of personal information for the purposes described above from outside the U.S., including the European Economic Area and other jurisdictions with similar data privacy regimes, into the U.S. or other jurisdictions that may not be considered to have an adequate level of data protection by the countries from where the data is sent.

Accessing your personal information

If applicable, you may access, rectify or delete your personal information by sending a written communication to MetLifeWorldwideAdmin@metlife.com.

Data Retention

We will retain your data for as long as you use the eBenefits Platform and for a reasonable time thereafter in accordance with our record retention requirements or as required by law. Please note that some or all of your personal information may be necessary in order for the eBenefits Platform to function properly.

Third Party Terms and Conditions

Please note that your access to and use of the eBenefits Platform may be subject to certain third party terms and conditions and privacy policies, including but not limited to those of application stores and mobile software platforms. You recognize and agree that DelAm is not liable for any such third party terms and conditions and their use of your personal information.

What choices do you have about the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information?

We don’t share personal information of eBenefits Platform users with unaffiliated third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

At this time, our websites do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals or similar mechanisms.

What kinds of security measures do we take to safeguard your personal information?

DelAm follows generally accepted industry standards and maintains reasonable and appropriate safeguards to ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the information in DelAm’s possession. Only those persons with a need to access your personal information in connection with the fulfillment of their tasks in accordance with the purposes of the Policy and for the purposes of performing technical maintenance have access to your personal information in DelAm’s possession. Personal information collected by DelAm through the eBenefits Platform is stored in secure operating environments that are not available to the public. We have technical, administrative, and physical security measures in place to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and improper use. For example, the parts of the eBenefits Platform that enable or require you to submit personal information online use encryption technology to protect that information. We also review our security procedures periodically to consider appropriate new technology. However, no system can be 100% secure and there is the possibility that despite DelAm’s reasonable efforts, there could be unauthorized access to your personal information. By using the eBenefits Platform, you assume the risk.
